IKO Gutter Replacement: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide

IKO gutter replacement in Pasadena typically runs $14 to $28 per linear foot installed, with most single-story homes landing between $1,800 and $3,600 for a full gutter system swap. We stock IKO-compatible gutter profiles on our trucks and can usually complete a standard replacement in one day. Most homeowners discover a failed gutter the hard way: a sagging run pulling away from the fascia after a Santa Ana wind event, or water pouring over the edge in a section that used to drain fine. If you’re seeing stains on the stucco below a roofline or finding paint chips in the garden bed after rain, the gutter has stopped doing its job.

We’re an independent Pasadena roofing company, not affiliated with IKO. That means we’re free to match the right gutter to your roofline without brand loyalty getting in the way of what’s actually best for your house.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO manufactures gutter systems in 5-inch and 6-inch K-style profiles, along with a half-round option for homes where the roofline calls for that older profile. The 5-inch K-style is what you’ll find on most Pasadena homes built before the 1990s, including the craftsman bungalows around Bungalow Heaven and the Spanish-style ranches across north Pasadena. The 6-inch profile handles more volume, which matters on steep-pitch rooflines where water moves fast.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t know: IKO gutter profiles have a slightly different lip geometry than the generic K-style gutters sold at big-box stores. Off-the-shelf hangers can slip, and seam joins that looked tight at the store will open up within a season or two. We use IKO-matched hangers and drop outlets so every connection actually seats. If your existing gutters are IKO-branded, look for the stamped logo on the inside of the gutter near a downspout. If the stamp is gone, we can identify the profile by measuring the lip roll and the trough depth during a walkaround. Aftermarket equivalents do exist, and for some rooflines they’re genuinely just as good, but the savings are usually $2 to $3 per foot at most. We’ll tell you which option makes sense for your specific situation before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your IKO Gutter Replacement Is Failing

  • Gutter pulling away from the fascia board. The hanger brackets have loosened or the fascia itself is soft. In Pasadena’s older craftsman homes, we often find the original fascia is redwood that’s given up after 80 years of holding fasteners. The gutter may look fine, but it’s one wind event from coming down.
  • Water spilling over the edge during moderate rain. The pitch of the gutter run has shifted, or a seam has separated and is catching water mid-run. Either way, the water that’s supposed to reach the downspout is now dumping straight down the wall.
  • Visible rust or pinhole leaks at the seams. IKO’s steel gutters are galvanized, but the coating wears thin at stress points. Pasadena’s morning marine layer leaves moisture sitting on the metal longer than people expect, and rust at the seam is usually the first sign the gutter is done.
  • Paint chips and dirt splash marks on the stucco below the roofline. This tells us the gutter has overflowed repeatedly. By the time you see staining, water has been running down the wall long enough to saturate the stucco, which leads to bigger problems than a gutter swap.
  • The gutter sags visibly at the midpoint between hangers. Hangers were spaced too far apart on the original install, or debris weight has pulled the run out of line. Either way, water pools in the sag and the metal fatigues there first.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For IKO gutter replacement in Pasadena, you’re looking at these ranges:

Gutter Profile Material Cost (per linear foot) Installed Cost (per linear foot)
5-inch K-style, IKO steel $4 to $7 $14 to $19
6-inch K-style, IKO steel $6 to $9 $17 to $24
Half-round, IKO profile $7 to $11 $19 to $28

What moves the number on your house: roofline height (a second-story gutter run means scaffold work or ladder setups that take longer), the condition of your fascia board (if we find rot, that has to be addressed before the new gutter goes up), and how many downspouts need to be reworked. Every quote from us includes tear-off of the old gutters, disposal, new hangers matched to the IKO profile, seam sealing, and a full test with water before we call the job done. You’ll have the price in writing before we touch a single shingle.

DIY or Call Us?

Gutter replacement isn’t inherently dangerous like high-tension garage springs, but it goes wrong in ways that cost more to fix than the original job. What you can safely check yourself: look at the hanger spacing, look for visible rust at the seams, and run water from a hose to see where it spills. If the problem is a single loose hanger, tighten it. If it’s sagging between hangers, separated seams, or a run that’s pulled off the fascias, that’s a full replacement or at minimum a professional repair. The two common DIY failures we see in Pasadena: mismatched hangers that don’t grip the IKO lip properly, and gutters pitched slightly wrong so water pools instead of draining. The first costs you extra when the gutter pulls loose. The second costs you a fascia board and stucco repair a few years down. If you want this done once and done right, call us at (626) 657-5397 for a walkaround and a written price.
